We Didn’t Start the Fire 36 x 48
This is my only anti-nuke piece. The horizontal box in the middle is a missile silo, A “dove of peace” (which is Biblically is a “rock dove” or pigeon) sits on its top. The 3 children behind are 3 nations, who are all enjoying an ice cream. The left child is the U.S., the other 2 are other nations that are jealous of the “push-up” ice cream that the U.S. has. It looks like a missile. Children play in the park and wander around as if nothing is wrong, while a fire rages in the background. It is a world where no one takes responsibility.
John Lennon 30 x 40
I did this marker and ink wash drawing of John Lennon for one of the other teachers in my (Middle) school, just because she likes classic rock like I do, and she asked me for a picture of Lennon. I made it much larger than we both expected, and liked it so much, that I made small prints and larger Giclee prints of it.

One Peaceful Moment 22 x 28
On a vacation in Albuquerque, we bickered and fought about the most ridiculous things. My two youngest sat on a bench in the shadow of a tree and found peace. This brought me back to reality and the rest of the day was better. This is oil painted on sand, It really feels like the beautiful adobe in Albuquerque.
For the rest of the year, I concentrated on illustrating the Bible—creating the comps. for the New Testament, and then creating pieces that have the “magic circle of light”, or the “figureground” taught to me by Jerome Witkin
